'Brassed Off' 2008

North Yorkshire, 1992. The story is one of quiet desperation among miners who want to continue to work - despite the dangers and hardships of the profession they know that in the 1980s and early 90s the politics are against them and that the possibility of a management review to keep their pit open is a sham.

Meanwhile, the local colliery band, led by Danny, prepare for a national competition, despite the fact that they are faced with redundancy if their pit closes. With no hope on the horizon the colliery band is on the verge of breaking up when in walks a girl with a flugel...

Bebington Dramatic Society's first production run of 'Brassed Off' was undertaken in 2008 with  Port Sunlight Lyceum Brass in the musical 'hotseat'.
